Features
Our amplifiers are designed to give you clarity of the best clean sounds, while seamlessly transitioning into distortion, and all-out high gain - controllable with your pick attack and your guitar's volume control. This is an amplifier that is every bit as musical as your favorite guitars. The Veracity™ Amplifier allows you to hear and feel the “wood” in your guitar for the first time as if it were wired directly to your fingers. It reacts precisely to every nuance of your playing while offering to become an extension of your imagination. It is an experience words fail to adequately describe.
The Veracity™ Amplifier is not intended as a “practice” or “bedroom” amp. It will not produce rich harmonics or fluid, singing sustain at bedroom volume levels. This amplifier is intended for live performance situations. It is at that level which allows the amplifier to breath fire & passion into your playing.
Each amplifier is lovingly hand crafted and customized to exacting standards ensuring individuality and personality.
Plate Voltage Selector Switch
Voltage has everything to do with tone, but it’s different for different tubes. The power transformer in the Veracity™ Amplifier has two taps so the end user can supply the tubes with either 260 or 300 volts.
If the higher setting is used, you will get more volume, headroom and tighter bottom end tone. This will cause the overall sound to be a bit less dynamic and give weaker harmonics. If you choose to lower the voltage, the harmonics will be richer but the bottom will be “looser”. There’s a sweetness that comes with lower voltages and more dynamic, aggressive sound that comes with high voltage. It’s a trade off depending on what you want.
NOTE
Your Veracity™ Amplifier is factory set for optimal performance using the 300V tap and the bias set to approximately 40mA (using EL34 tubes). When selecting a lower voltage plate voltage, take notice of the locking dial position indicator BEFORE switching plate voltage levels. Once you decide to try the lower voltage level (260V), the tubes will need re-biased to approximately 40mA in order to sound their best. If switching back to 300V, be certain the locking dial is exactly where it was before you switched to the lower voltage setting. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN PREMATURE TUBE FAILURE!
Transformer Output Impedance Selector Switch
We all know there's no one holy grail of tone when it comes to tone. Each Veracity™ Amplifier is individual, right down to the primary impedance of the output transformer. The primaries on these transformers are chosen because each sounds different. Now you don't have to wrestle with the problem of whether to order your Veracity™ Amplifier with 5,200 ohms or 6,600 ohms. You can try them both and let your ears decide which you tone you like best.
External Bias Control
A 2W precision wound 10-turn potentiometer is installed for lifetime performance. It also features a locking brake to keep the potentiometer from moving once proper bias is set. When changing power tubes, it’s a good idea to check the bias voltage. This is the voltage which allows the tube to “idle” properly. If the voltage is set too low, the sound will be harsh and lifeless. Set the voltage too high and the tube life may be measured in minutes! By using a simple hand-held multimeter inserted into the external test ports, you can set the bias points quickly and accurately without sending your amplifier out to some amp tech to “magically” dial in your bias. Bright Switch This control provides 3 positions of equalization to the amplifier’s overall sound and considered a tone-shaping control. In the “up” position, this control adds lots of sparkle – great for cleaning up humbuckers. The center position takes this control completely out of the circuit for a flat response. With the switch placed in the “down” position, it makes the overall sound a little “darker” Adjust to your preference.
Mojo
The Mojo control sets the overall gain/volume for the amplifier. Adjust to your volume/tone tastes. Your Veracity™ Amplifier can be safely used with attenuator devices. These will allow you to obtain higher gain settings while reducing the overall volume of the amplifier. Perfect for small clubs!
There is no correct Mojo setting. Finding the desired tone setting depends on the guitars/pickups used, as well as your own personal tastes. This amplifier works in unison with your guitar volume to control the nature of the clean/overdrive tones.
Treble Control
Adjust the high control to taste; it controls adjusts the high frequency spectrum of your Veracity™ Amplifier.
Mid Control
Adjust the Mid control to taste; it controls adjusts the mid frequency spectrum of your Veracity™ Amplifier.
Bass Control
Adjust the Bass control to taste; it adjusts the low frequency spectrum of your Veracity™ Amplifier.
Presence Control
This control adds an edge to the overall amplifier tone. It's excellent for cutting through in a band or a recording mix. It also allows greater ability to selectively make notes feed back and "sing". It operates like a traditional presence control, reducing negative feedback at high frequencies within the feedback loop of the power amp. It adds an additional level of flexibility to the amplifier, much like the 3-position bright switch.
Standby switch:
In the UP position the amplifier is fully ON and will produce sound. In the DOWN position the amplifier is in STANDBY mode and will not produce sound, yet the amplifier is seeing AC current.
ON/OFF switch:
In the DOWN position amplifier is completely OFF. In the UP position the amplifier is seeing AC current and is considered ON.
Pilot indicator light:
Located to the right side, this Pilot light indicates if the amplifier is receiving AC power.
REAR Panel Controls, inputs/outputs
AC power cord input:
Using the supplied IEC 120vac power cord, connect to AC POWER IN on the amplifier and to AC power source. AC Power Fuse: This fuse protects the amplifier if any malfunction occurs. Use ONLY stock fuse rating as supplied by factory. Using any other fuse value can damage amplifier and void factory warranty.
Speaker outputs (4, 8 & 16 ohm):
(You must have a speaker load inputted to the amplifier before powering on!) Each (1-4 ohm, 1-8 ohm, 1-16 ohm) output optimizes the amplifier for 4, 8 or 16-ohm speaker impedances. Connect using a ¼” phone plug to an outboard speaker cabinet. If you have a Combo amplifier, connect to the combo speaker with supplied wire/1/4” jack.
